Srinagar,July 12 (Scoop News) - 8th death anniversary of renowned Kashmiri poet and writer Fazil Kashmiri was observed in the auditorium of Radio Kashmir Srinagar on Wednesday.
In this connection, a grand function was organized by Adbee Markaz Kamraz and Fazil Kashmiri Memorial Trust in collaboration with Radio Kashmir Srinagar.
On the occasion, Minister of State for Home, Tourism and Culture, Nasir Aslam Wani was the Chief Guest. Renowned writer and Gyan Peath award winner Rehman Rahi presided over the function. While as DG All India Radio, L.D Mandolia, Prof. Margoob Banihali, Syed Zeshan Fazil, Dr Aziz Hajini, Director Iqbal Institute Kashmir University Dr. Taskeen fazil, Rukhsana Jabeen and galaxy of eminent scholars and dignitaries attended the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Nasir Aslam Wani, recalled the role and contribution of Fazil Kashmiri for promotion of Kashmiri Literature, culture and language.
He said that the government will restore the glory Kashmiri language and will put in all possible efforts for its promotion.
Director General, All India Radio, L.D Mandolia also spoke on the occasion and praised the Kashmiri language poetry particularly the literary work of Fazil Kashmiri. He said Radio is playing a vital role for promotion of Kashmiri language and shall continue to broadcast programmes regarding Kashmiri language for its encouragement.
On this occasion, life time achievement award was accorded to eminent Scholar and Writer Dr. Margoob Banihali from Fazil Kashmiri Memorial Trust.
